I was directed here from a reply to the review I gave. My device is a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, running 5.0.1. I have Google Drive, Onedrive and Dropbox installed. On my pc, I use final draft. When I try to import files, the only 2 options I have to look through are onedrive and Dropbox. However, opening either does not show the files in the directories. I only managed to open the file I stored on Google Drive after downloading to my device storage, uploading to Onedrive, then opening the file from the onedrive app, rather than through this app. And yes I did try to open it from device storage and Google Drive directly as well, but got an error message.

When you try to load a file, are you saying you see Onedrive and Dropbox but NOT Google Drive or even the local storage (sdcard for example)? Are the files named with the extension ".fdx" (standard for final draft)

Also, you mentioned getting an error from device storage and google drive... do you happen to know what the error message was? If you email yourself the file, are you able to click on it and open it that way?

The way it should work for a Final Draft file is that you can open it from anywhere-- Google Drive, local storage, Dropbox, etc. If you just want to view it, that's all you need to do (hopefully). If you want to EDIT it, you can convert it to a Fountain (plain text) file that will be saved locally on your external storage...

I should also ask what PC you are using (just to get as much info as possible) and if you are saving the files initially from the PC to Google Drive? You should just be able to drag and drop the .fdx file directly into google drive... is this how you get it to google drive initially?

This available for desktop computers?

I type much faster on my laptop. Is this downloadable for desktop/laptop?

Well, yes and no. I don't know if you've read, but Android apps are coming to Chromebooks, meaning DubScript should run on supported Chromebook laptops. The nice thing is these laptops are very cheap (some around $150)...

There is a pre-alpha in progress (there are some minor things to fix like a crash in Java 1.8) that should support window resizing and has Nougat (the new Android) features supported, A4 paper size, and, well, other neat things people have been asking for... so look for that hopefully soon. At that point, when the alpha is available for testing, I'll make the strings file available for translation if anyone else feels like contributing.

Sorry, I got distracted. The other thing I might suggest- for fast typing, is to get a bluetooth keyboard and/or mouse, which will allow you to type on a physical full-sized keyboard. This has the added advantage of giving you more screen room as your'e typing (since there's no software keyboard to take up half the screen)... Android works great with these keyboards. So that would be the $5-$30 solution. The Chromebook would get you a more portable traditional laptop experience. I even see a few of them on ebay for $55.00...

Great question!

Well, the previous answer used to be that if you wanted to use DubScript on a laptop, you'd need to use a similar Fountain-based programs. Of course, you can use ANY text editor-- Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on Macos...

But there are three recent developments that are kind of exciting regarding laptop usage:

1. The just-released RC9 beta testing version of DubScript allows you to copy/paste scripts from Google Docs-- normally there would be an issue with this, because Google Docs uses unusual space characters and inserts double spaces and other unusual things when you try to copy/paste. The testing version that was released has a function to 'clean up' these issues-- so that you can write your text right in Google Docs on any platform, then paste it into DubScript for instant viewing/exporting, etc.

2. The new beta also includes support for cloud saving. So you can use ANY text editor on your mac or PC to edit your file, then open it right into DubScript from, say Google Drive. One word of caution-- every cloud service has its own way of handling file "collisions" (such as if you edited the file on two different devices at the same time). Usually the last one to save "wins", copying on top of the previous one, although I believe Google Drive (as an example) keeps a 30-day history of all versions of a file. So that if you accidentally overwrite it, you can recover it. Along those lines, the RC9 version of DubScript ALSO keeps a history every time you save the file, so that if something goes wrong, you should (hopefully) be able to restore a previous version.

3. Finally, there is the exciting news that on many Chromebooks, Android apps can run!. So if you are lucky enough to have one of the newer chromebooks, you can run DubScript as a native Android app-- which can be resized or run full-screen like any other app. Full support should also be baked into RC9 (although has not been tested as I don't have such a chromebook), so give it a try and post if you have any issues!

As you can see, there are quite a few ways to write on your laptop. At a bare minimum, open up a blank text file on your computer, and start typing! When you're done, mail a copy to yourself or drop it in Google Drive, then open in DubScript, and there you are!

I want to wrote 2 screenplays simultaneously but don't know how. I wanna try some features but am scared my existing screenplay m8ght get deleted.

If you're saving your current

If you're saving your current screenplay fine, you should be alright. But you can always hit the Share button to email yourself a copy before moving to the next script. You can also copy/paste it into an email for piece of mind. To create a new script, go to the "Write" screen and choose the "New Screenplay..." menu item. If your screen has enough room to display it, it will look like a plus ("+") icon. You should be able to open either script with the "Open Screenplay" button (from the "Read" section's menu).
